“Life EWAS: Efficient & sustainable waste management methodologies using ICT tools enabling GHG emissions reduction”

The scope of Life EWAS project :

LIFE EWAS aims to foster innovation in the area of public and private interest of waste management by demonstrating the potential of new information technologies to OPTIMIZE current EU waste management operational methodologies and to establish a way forward for the standard adoption of a more sustainable model.

Life EWAS sensors installed in Seville!

On the 3rd of March the installation of Life EWAS sensors, has finished and the monitoring for the collection optimization has started. 268 sensors were installed in surface and underground bins in the area of Seville.

Life EWAS sensors installation has started in Chania!

At the beginning of March, Life EWAS’ sensors installation has started at the area of Chania. Sensors are being installed in blue and yellow bins and it is expected that by the end of the April all 356 sensors will be installed.

Life Ewas Technical Meeting in Barcelona, 1 -2 February 2016
Life Ewas Technical Meeting took place in Barcelona on the first two days of February. All partners were present in the meeting hosted by the Catalan Waste Agency. Namely, José Andrés Ferrete and Francisco Serrano from LIPASAM, Ignasi Puig, and Marta Jofra from ENT, José Antonio Cabo and José Antonio Morales from Wellness Telecoms, Ioannis Koutras, Kostas Paterakis and Panagiotis Chazirakis from DEDISA, and Aida Anthouli from D-Waste. The days were dedicated to the progress of the project. There were presentations from all partners on the development of the tasks, the fulfilment of the deliverables, and a productive discussion on the next steps. Special attention was given on how to involve the citizens, and the local stakeholders in the project, and a fruitful discussion was realised on the formulation of the Social Platform, both in the web and mobile application form.

Life Ewas in the Conference of the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece, on 15-16 of January 2016 in Alexandroupolis, Greece.

Life EWAS was presented in the Conference of the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece dedicated on waste management. The Conference took place on 15-16 of January 2016 in Alexandroupolis, Greece. The presentation was given by Aida Anthouli, D-Waste expert, during the Workshop "New tools and Technologies for waste management", "Hybrid systems for collection and recycling".
